The Balerno Inn has five bedroom suites with original building features. Room options include the Bonaly, a compact room with Harris tweed drapery and a sandstone wall; the Pentland, a larger room with Victorian cornicing and bay windows that can accommodate an extra bed for a child; and the Loganlea & Harlaw rooms, which feature vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and views of High Street. The Threipmuir room includes restored Victorian cornicing and large picture windows with views of the High Street. Each room has a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, digital TV and radio, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Loganlea & Harlaw rooms have desks and full-length mirrors.
Dining at The Balerno
The Balerno Inn has a restaurant that serves dishes using seasonal Scottish ingredients. Many ingredients come from local growers within the Pentland Hills area. Chef Andy Robson leads the kitchen team. The restaurant also features a drinks list with gins, whiskies, cocktails, and beers. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea with teas from the Wee Tea Company, with options to add bubbles or cocktails. The menu includes sandwiches, vol-au-vents, scones with butter and jam, and pork sausages. A sharing knickerbocker Glory is available for families. The restaurant serves from 12 noon daily.

Guests at The Balerno Inn can hike in the surrounding area. The hotel includes a unique enclosed garden with outdoor tables, and outdoor bothys that seat up to six adults and include heating and TVs. There's also a play area for children.

The Balerno Inn is in the village of Balerno, south of Edinburgh, 14 km from Edinburgh Waverley and 5 km from Edinburgh. Landmarks nearby include BobCat Alpacas (5 km), Torphin Hill Golf Club (5 km), and Chrichton Castle (1 km). The Pentland Hills are nearby. Guests can drive from Edinburgh City Centre or take the #44 bus. The ScotRail train goes to Currie Station, followed by a taxi, the #44 bus, or a 30-minute walk to Balerno. Bike and walking trails also lead to Balerno from the Water of Leith, Pentland Hills, and Harlaw Reservoir. Bike racks are outside the front door. Ample parking is available around High Street, including two public car parks.
