“This property stands out for its commitment to traditional Irish music, showcased nightly; plus, its history alone makes it worthy of a visit. Rooms above the pub are newly updated, yet the hotel holds onto its authentic, Dublin character; it's a fine mix. I think you'll find it a lively base.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
O'Donoghue's offers spacious rooms, some with modern bathrooms, and provide conveniences like tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer, fridge and kettle. Its location is ideal for exploring central Dublin, with easy walking distance to attractions like Trinity College; a Spar with an eating area across from the pub adds to the convenience. While some guests have noted the presence of narrow and winding staircases, many find the rooms surprisingly quiet despite being above the famous O'Donoghue's Bar, where you can enjoy live music and Guinness. With that in mind, the hotel is a very good value for money.

Acceptable Stay Above a Lively Pub

weak fanscratchy sheets
The room lacked proper maintenance. A fan was provided, but it barely cooled the room, and there were signs of mold in the shower (I really dislike that). The bed was also uncomfortable. The mattress felt hard and the sheets were scratchy and quite old.

clean bathroompositive attitude
The bathroom was really nice and clean! the shower only setup worked perfectly, and i found clean drinking water straight from the tap. I loved that a grocery store sat right across the street. all the staff i encountered seemed very professional with a positive attitude. Even when the pub had a crazy amount of people, they were helpful.
the stairs were a little narrow, but i managed just fine!
