Rooms at The Guards

The Guards Hotel has ten rooms and provides accommodations fit for families and disabled people. Options range from singles to four-poster suites. Windsor Castle, on the first floor, has a four-poster bed, drawing desk, sofa bed, coffee table, and small fridge freezer. Bathrooms feature a roll-top bath, a shower with five heads, a makeup mirror desk, and twin sinks with a Victorian toilet. The classic double No.1 Post on the ground floor sleeps two and includes an en suite walk-in wet room. The family Balmoral Suite has a king-size bed, a sofa bed and a writing desk with a notepad and pen. All rooms include free unlimited Wi-Fi, televisions, hairdryers, alarm clocks, and tea and coffee facilities. One single room includes a private bathroom, located next to the room.

Dining and Bar

Guests can use The Scots Guards Club bar next door to the hotel via a door at reception. The bar provides drinks and food. The Scots Guards Club caters for functions and has a room available for hire upstairs.

Things to do

The Guards Hotel provides tickets for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Edinburgh Zoo is three miles west of the city centre. The Zoo provides keeper talks, hands-on animal encounters, several play areas and a gift shop. The National Museum of Scotland houses collections such as world's most famous chess pieces, the oldest known reptile, a celebrity sheep, a coffin in the shape of a Mercedes Benz and over two million insects.

Location and Access

The Guards Hotel is located in Edinburgh's West End, opposite Haymarket Railway Station and close to the EICC. Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo are extremely close to the Edinburgh Haymarket location. It is a ten-minute walk from the city centre and minutes from Haymarket Train Station, which provides travel links including the tram and Airlink 100 airport bus service. Excellent bus services run into the city centre and to Edinburgh Airport. The hotel is 2 km from Edinburgh Waverley and 15 km from Edinburgh Airport.

Hotel Services

Check-in is between 14:00 and 22:00. Late check-in is possible with advance arrangement at the hotel's discretion. The hotel welcomes pets upon request. Stag and hen parties are welcome but require a £250 cash deposit upon arrival, refundable after a room check on departure. The hotel is non-smoking.
